Molten Metal Sessions is an experimental jewellery workshop exploring the beauty of raw precious metal and cut gemstones.
Working with .925 sterling silver, sapphires and synthetic stones, over 3 hours participants will learn contemporary sandcasting techniques to create a one-of-a-kind ring. The process includes mould making, pouring molten metal, piercing, filing and polishing the finished piece.
Hosted in collaboration with SAVA, the session brings jewellery making into an artist-led space built around experimentation, contemporary art and WA creative culture. The result is intentionally imperfect, textured, irregular and entirely made by hand.
No prior jewellery experience required. All materials, tools and a gemstone are included.

Under Guidance of Local Artist
SELECT A PATTERN Choose from a selection of patterns and forms to work from.
MAKE THE MOULD Using jeweller's red casting clay, you'll create your own mould ready for casting.
CHOSE YOUR STONES Choose a gemstone to incorporate into your piece. One stone is included with your workshop, with additional gemstones available to purchase on the day.
CAST Under close supervision, safely work with molten .925 sterling silver and pour your own piece of jewellery.
PIERCE, FILE & POLISH Remove the excess metal, refine the form and finish your piece by hand — ready to wear.

A selection of Raw Sapphires and cut gemstones available to incorporate into your piece.
One gemstone is included with your workshop. Additional stones can be selected and purchased on the day.

Molten Metal Sessions brings that same spirit of experimentation into jewellery and material.
