Design and handcraft a one-off ring in wax — cast in precious metal.
Join us in our Victoria Park studio for a guided 2.5 hour session, where you’ll carve and shape your design using traditional techniques.
Create a signet, imprint your fingerprint, set gemstones, or explore a form entirely your own.
Your piece is then cast in Western Australia and finished by local jewellers.

The Experience
A small, intimate workshop designed around process and atmosphere, welcoming to beginners.
Over 2.5 hours, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of wax carving, work with proper jeweller’s tools, and create a design that is entirely your own.
We keep groups small to ensure hands-on guidance throughout.

Our Folk works exclusively with precious metals; either reclaimed or Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) certified.
On the day, you’ll be quoted based on the weight of your ring for local casting.
Sterling silver (.925) typically ranges from $30–$60.
9ct yellow gold ranges from ~$400 for a fine band up to $1,200+ for larger pieces.
We can cast in any metal: yellow, white, or rose gold, across all carats.
If you have a design in mind, we’re happy to provide an estimate ahead of time, just reach out.
Gemstones (Amethyst, Ruby, Topaz and more)

From blue topaz to rubies and amethyst, we source a considered range of gemstones for use in your piece.
Prices range from $10–$30.

Wedding Bands

This workshop is designed as an introduction to wax carving.
Wedding bands, particularly those designed to fit an engagement ring, require more time and precision than this workshop allows.
If you’re interested in creating your own wedding bands, we offer private sessions.

We had a private family ring-making workshop with Jack at Our Folk to celebrate our son’s 16th birthday, and the experience was absolutely fabulous.
From start to finish, Jack made the whole experience so enjoyable and memorable. We were a group of five, ranging in age from 16 to 82, and somehow Jack managed to make everyone feel comfortable, involved and excited about creating their own ring. He was an absolute trooper!
Jack is not only incredibly talented and skilled at what he does, but he is also a fantastic instructor. He explained everything so clearly, was incredibly patient, and brought so much fun and warmth to the workshop. There were plenty of laughs along the way, and we all loved being able to create something with our own hands.
We absolutely love the rings we made, but what makes them even more special is the memory attached to them. They will always remind us of such a beautiful family experience celebrating our son’s 16th birthday, and they are something we will cherish forever.
A huge thank you to Jack for making our day so special. We couldn’t recommend his workshops highly enough. If you’re looking for something a little different and genuinely special to do together, this is such a wonderful experience.

I am absolutely stoked with the ring I made during this class. The class size was small enough for us all to get heaps of advice and hands-on help to get our dream rings made. Jack gave clear instructions, heaps of tips to get it just right, and has been super supportive in follow-up so that I can keep learning and practicing at home. I’m definitely all-in on wax carving and am keeping an eye out for more workshops to keep building on my skills 👀
